Why ingarden?

We specifically designed our growing kit to be best-in-class. Successfully growing microgreens requires specific environmental conditions with little room for error. Our patented, cutting-edge technology curates these growing requirements in a simple, streamlined, and automated product.

The LED system provides optimal light conditions needed for microgreen growth in 3 essential ways:

- Emits light wavelengths that activate phytochemical and phytonutrients development within the microgreens
- Has a fully automated on/off timer that ensures adequate light absorption
- Is powered by a 15-watt, energy-efficient LED light

What is the best way to store microgreens?

We advise only harvesting when you're ready to consume your microgreens, but you can store your microgreens by rinsing and drying them gently, then placing them in an airtight container or resealable bag. Store in the fridge, making sure they're not too crowded. Use within a few days for best flavor and nutrition. If they start to wilt, re-moisturize by placing a damp paper towel over them.

What is the difference between sprouts and microgreens?

Many people think that they are the same thing, but this is not the case.

Sprouts are seedlings from seeds that have not yet developed roots and have not yet undergone photosynthesis.

Microgreens, on the other hand, are plants that have already grown roots and are larger than sprouts. Microgreens are small-leafed plants that are usually used as toppings for soups, salads or other dishes. They are characterized by their intense taste and special colors. Compared to sprouts, microgreens have more time to grow, which results in a higher nutrient content and more intense flavor.

Microgreens can be successfully cultivated in soil or a special mat, water and sunlight. They are harvested after about 5-7 days and are eaten without roots.

Microgreens have a higher content of nutrients and fiber. Their anti-diabetic effect is stronger as they contain less sugar than sprouts. The cultivation risks are lower with microgreens as they are less susceptible to mold.

In contrrast, growing sprouts is more laborious and involves a higher risk of mold and bacterial growth due to germination in humid environments such as a sprout jar. Sprouts require washing twice a day to prevent mold and bacterial growth and are best used boiled or roasted.

Why do my microgreens grow at different rates and grow to different sizes?

Different types of microgreens have different heights and growth rates due to variations in their genetics and growth patterns. The height of a microgreen can also depend on factors such as the amount of light, temperature, and humidity they receive.
Some microgreen varieties, such as mustard and radish, tend to grow taller than others, such as broccoli and red cabbage, which typically have a shorter height. The growth rate of microgreens can also affect their height, as some varieties may grow faster or slower than others.
